Project 1. Think Like a Designer <\/strong>  \"3D<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Students <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • are introduced to the MPACT design\/making model and design a bookmark to be 3D printed. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • learn about measurement. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Figure out why a design will not 3D print well (decomposition in CT). <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Project 2. Make a Soma Cube Puzzle with a Box <\/strong>  \"Illustration<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

    Students will: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • use the design\/making model to make a 3D printed Soma Cube puzzle with Tinkercad.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • learn about volume and nets.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • make parts of a mobile, then put them together (decomposition in CT). <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Imagine shapes with pieces missing and how that affects volume (Spatial Reasoning). <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Project 3. Make a Mobile <\/strong>  \"Drawing<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

      Students will: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • use the design\/making model to make a mobile for another class.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • learn about surface area and geometric nets. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • debug an algorithm (CT). <\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • imagine 3D shapes folded from 2D shapes (spatial reasoning).  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
